Signs of AIDS

Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome or Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (abbreviated AIDS) is a set of symptoms and infections that arise due to damage to the human immune system due to infection with the HIV virus. People affected by this virus will become susceptible to opportunistic infections or easily affected by tumors.

HIV is generally transmitted through direct contact between mucous or blood flow, with body fluids containing HIV, such as blood, semen, vaginal fluids, and breast milk. Transmission can occur through intercourse, blood transfusions, contaminated needles, between mother and baby during pregnancy, childbirth, or breastfeeding, as well as other forms of contact with these body fluids. In the first few years, this HIV virus may not cause any symptoms in the body. Because HIV / AIDS does not always show symptoms, to find out if someone has been infected with HIV, several laboratory tests can be carried out.
Various symptoms of AIDS generally will not occur in people who have a good immune system. Most of these conditions are due to infection by bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites which are usually controlled by elements of the immune system that are damaged by HIV.
Opportunistic infections (infections caused by organisms that usually do not cause disease in people with normal immune systems, but can attack people with a poor immune system) are commonly found in people with AIDS / HIV affecting almost all organs of the body.
Usually people with AIDS have symptoms of systemic infections such as:
  • fever
  • sweating (especially at night)
  • swollen glands
  • cold
  • feeling weak
  • fungi in the oral cavity
  • weight loss.
Certain opportunistic infections suffered by AIDS patients can include:
  1. Lungs: preumocystis pneumonia, tuberculosis
  2. Gastrointestinal disease: esophagitis (inflammation of the esophagus) due to fungus / virus
  3. Neurological diseases: toxoplasmosis (acute cerebral inflammation due to parasite toxoplasma gondii), meningitis (inflammation of the lining of the brain) due to cryptococcus neoformans fungus
  4. Cancer: Kaposi's sarcoma, lymphoma
The presence of HIV in a person's body will indeed make it easier for him to be infected with various viruses and bacteria, including sexually transmitted infections like what happens to your friends. But it is not a certainty. Through a blood test, it was discovered that the patient was suffering from HIV / AIDS. Until now there has been no treatment that can cure HIV / AIDS, as we have explained above that treatment is usually given precisely to infections / other diseases that accompany HIV / AIDS. While for HIV / AIDS the treatment itself is still only trying to suppress viral replication but not to eliminate or cure HIV / AIDS.
Thus the explanation that we can convey regarding AIDS signs. May be useful.
